INTERRÖBANG CARTEL - NEEDS MORE WANGER

Interrobang Cartel

In April of 2003, the first International USENET punk band was created. In fairly short order it had been named, people had written and recorded songs, and much fun was had by all. (For more information about the band, see the the Interrobang Cartel main page.)

The Next Step

By July, a half-dozen songs had been recorded by various Interrobang Cartel folk, and Tim Chmielewski suggested that it might be a good idea to throw them on a CD and send it to Dr. Demento. Over the next couple of months, more songs were written and recorded, CD designs were proposed and discarded, and the name Needs More Wanger was decided on for the name of the CD. In mid-September everything was finalized and Needs More Wanger was set free on the world!

Why Needs More Wanger?

The phrase first came up in a response Dean Lenort made to the Free Your Cones song:

INSTANT REVIEW: Needs more wanger. Other than that, bang up job.

Later, when Talysman the Ur-Beatle submitted Track 8, in the ID3 tag for album title he put Needs More Wanger. I liked this enough that I ended up using it as the working album title for the CD.

How do I get a copy of Needs More Wanger?

The aren't for sale anywhere, so the easiest way is to make yourself a copy. If you look here you'll find a disorganized collection of different versions of files that went into the CD's design; the ones in the 'orderfinal' directory are the ones that were actually used on the CDs that were sent out to various folks. Feel free to come up with your own cover design for the CD (but please read the guidelines and requests if you do so).

Here's the track order that was used (and this is the order that's reflected on the ID4 tags of the linked-to MP3s):

  1. The Robot Song (Dalek version)
  2. The George Hammond Conspiracy
  3. Pigskin Loofah (rip cut)
  4. Pigskin Loofah (buzz cut)
