jwgh described how this song came into being in this way:
How this came about was this. This all took place many moons
ago. I am only posting now due to my own inefficiency. Odeley.
Anyway, here is my version of events:
- While recording the Simonesque version of Rewind, Kerri complained
that the FULL RANGE of her VOCAL CAPABILITIES were not being taken
advantage of. Something like that. Because 'Rewind' is all poppy and
nice and Kerri sings really sweet on it and all but at heart she's all
ROCK AND ROLL! ROCK AND ROLL! I may have made some of that up.
- Ben Allared made up some lyrics which Kerri could use to reveal her PUNK
SIDE, which I reproduce here:
Hatefukker!
You are a
Hatefukker!
- Kerri was very impressed by these lyrics and recorded a five-second
version of them on the spot.
- Then she suggested that some people might want to make remixes of
this recording.
- After a long delay, I decided to give it a whirl. AND SO I DID! But
for whatever reason I decided also to make use of some recordings I made
of Kibo back in the day for the Secret Bonus Track on Needs More Wanger.
- So I finished it and I was pretty happy with it as far as it went but
I wanted to make sure that Kibo didn't mind this UNAUTHORIZED USE OF HIS
VOICE. There was then another fairly lengthy delay, but finally ...
- Today he told me he didn't mind.
- So here it is. I
should maybe warn you that this recording starts out quite loud and only
gets louder.
This mp3 is dedicated to Tim Chmielewski, in the hopes that he will find
the volume of the vocals in this recording acceptable.
Also, I think there may be a lesson here for people who want to write an
Interrobang Cartel song but are concerned that their lyrics will be TOO
DUMB or TOO DARK. Lessons are fun!
