Golly, this fell right off my radar. Even LJ is too calm. What happened to the band? I think for a little while we had too many forums and critical energy was dissipated. BTW, WTF is the point of all those posts? They don't link to anywhere, no address to go buy v1agra or whatever. Curious use of pixellation and blurring, too. What, too modest to show the whole picture? I guess it's simple automated vandalism for its own sake.

So I have been trying to figure out how to at least finish up the first disc of BC. I recently saw Was (Not Was) and it got me to playing with some of the funk guitar patterns. Combine that with looking at Welcome to the Crotch Kicking Dept, and I got the idea to do it as a James Brown song.
Lots of "ow" and "uhn", and other J.B. stuff it actually makes sense.
A cheery, fun-sounding song with creepy lyrics? Sounds like Interröbang Cartel to me....

How about... webcam shots of people looking into their screens as they are "on the hunt"? An assortment of facial expressions from hopeful and bemused all the way to shocked and disgusted. Some video clips - rolling eyes, rubbing eyes, slumping over. Still shots of expressions. Repeated motifs - the same person in the morning with coffee, the afternoon with a can of soda, the evening doing shots of tequila. There's room for main talent, an actress lip-synching the song while playing the part of looking in the screen like everybody else. Alternative shots - a whiteboard with a list of names along the top and criteria down the side, with matrix entries being filled in - return to the whiteboard from time to time as it is being filled in - video of the woman's hand furiously scribbling or erasing, changing her mind and un-erasing, then erasing again.
No, haven't seen the teddy bear. But that's a good idea. Unconventional videos are more likely to capture interest.

I believe Major Zed said above it's ok with him?
That seems reasonable... they can be intermixed with other clips, for a surprise.
Yeah, that's sort of what I was thinking too. :-) Especially since you can't really get a stuffed toy to show any particular expression on their face. It would good to have some real people in it too. The advantage to the toys, however, is that they aren't remotely camera shy. :-)

Yeah, the sample MOV you sent me some time ago wouldn't play in Quicktime, and couldn't be imported into iTunes. I don't know what happened to it.

Jake aka jwgh is one of Interrobang Cartel's founders. He started the original web site and much of the initial project with Talysman.
He does a lot of acoustic guitar solo work. He did alot of the original songs on "Needs More Wanger."

I did deliberately pattern parts of the lyrics after a couple Bowie songs, just to force it to have a Bowie feel. I won't tell you which songs, or where, because I don't want to influence your choice of melody.
I would be more inclined to modify the lyrics a bit rather than replace them; but one never knows where that will end (ask Doctroid)...

Yeah, I've been seeing the latter two, but forgot we were reverse stalking people. Have they really converted any songs to ringtones? I was going to look into how to do that, but didn't.

As the Cartel moves into its prog rock era, I see them taking on a nerdly keyboards guy who, having joined the band, foists upon them a long, serious, intellectual, instrumental piece for the new album. Not to be outdone by the gods of 1970s prog rock like Emerson, Wakeman, and Waters, he ventures into the weirdness of microtonal 15-tone equal temperament. Needless to say, there is immediate talk of firing him from the band.

I'm not sure exactly how the plug-in works. I think it uses very short samples, with a lot of synth-type processing to get the different notes, ADSR, filtering, articulation, etc. I'll try a mix.
